GEM Research Assistant and Personal Assistant

Organization: SNHU’s Global Education Movement (GEM) 

Intern Title: Research and Personal Assistant 

Supervisor: Tujiza Uwituze, GEM Special Projects Manager

Internship Duration: 5 months (June 2021 – November 2021) 

Hours: 15 hours per week 

Stipend: USD 50 per month with possible bonuses for exceptional performance 

Location: Virtual

Organization Background: 

The Global Education Movement (GEM), an initiative of Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), offers higher education to refugees and other vulnerable populations so that they achieve what for many of them would feel like an impossible dream: A US accredited degree, dignified work, and the ability to drive change for their communities by being at the decision making tables.

Intern’s Roles and Responsibilities: 

-Conduct research and summarize findings, including empirical and theoretical methodologies used

-Perform integrative reviews of research findings on similar studies

-Perform literature reviews 

-Prepare other articles, reports and presentations as assigned

-Schedule and lead weekly check-in meetings 

-Take notes and write minutes during meetings

-Provide one-to-one support and offer administrative support whenever needed

-Various ad hoc requests as assigned

Desired Skills and Qualities: 

-Computer literacy

-Exceptional English reading and writing abilities

-Exceptional English comprehension and synthesis abilities

-Strong background in finance and statistics subjects highly preferred

-Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite

-Flexibility to work during the weekends

-Familiarity with visual presentation data tools such as Excel charts, Tableau, Prezi is a plus


-Proactive communicator

-Developed time management skills 

-Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills

-Ability to independently complete assigned tasks
