Communications Assistant (Work Study role)

Job Description:

The Communications Assistant will assist the Communications team in managing social media accounts and public relations at Kepler


  • Create posts for the social media accounts: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Youtube
  • Organize and archive Kepler photos and videos
  • Conduct interviews with students and staff for social media content
  • Respond to comments on social media accounts
  • Take photographs, video recordings, and conduct interviews, at Kepler events
  • Provide administrative support to our local partners such as placing orders for flyers
  • Assist in developing the weekly newsletter
  • Assist in managing media houses on or off campus during events
  • Manage campus gallery and tour visits
  • Organize and coordinate events for Communications both internally and externally
  • Manage finance requests and justifications
  • Prepare budgets for events
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Competencies:

  • Have a strong understanding of English 
  • Ability to self-edit, and produce relatively error-free documents 
  • Interest in social media and familiarity with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube, WordPress and Hootsuite
  • An interest in marketing (digital and print) social media management, and public relations. 
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently is a must
  • In good academic standing (must be maintained throughout job)
  • Must not hold any other work-study position or internship 
  • Outstanding moral and interpersonal skills
  • Creative/critical thinker and tech-savvy skills 
  • Cohort 2018, 2019a and 2019b students are eligible
