Opportune Utuje, 21, currently pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Management with a concentration in Logistics and Operations said that she always had a dream to pursue studies in management and finance.
“I want to become an auditor so I think that the course will help me to gain the basic skills that will help me in my desired career,” she said.
When she was in secondary school, she found out about Kepler from a friend, and was intrigued at why the best student at her school chose to go to Kepler. She was told that Kepler is highly competitive and one of her friends urged her to apply.
“I applied to Kepler with my fellow colleagues and was asked to do an admission test which I did and passed. I was really happy because there were many people that were applying at that time,” she said.
“My life has changed from the very first day that I discovered that I had been accepted into the school.”
Opportune said she had to do a foundational program that every student at Kepler has to go through to learn basic skills that will help them during and after Kepler.
During the foundation program students learn communication skills, tech skills, and methods of critical thinking among others.
“I was able to learn communicating effectively and it still helps me today. I have become a good communicator. Learning how to type on a computer helps me even today,” she said. “I was able to learn how to think and work collaboratively.”
After finishing the foundational course, Covid 19 unraveled and the students were forced to go home.
“It was a very difficult time, we went home and started learning virtually and due to the support of our advisors I was able to complete my modules.”
In June 2021, Opportune started an internship in the communications department at Kepler while continuing her studies.
“I grew professionally. I was able to boost my confidence. I was able to interact a lot with other colleagues. I managed to receive constructive feedback, and through that I was able to improve my competence.”
During the internship, she improved her networking skills and learned how the professional environment works.
“Kepler is amazing in supporting students. I have gained new skills which I use to impact my community. Kepler brings the world to you. They bring real world challenges to students.”
“The Kepler environment emphasizes continuous learning. They make you believe that you can achieve anything which has helped me develop and become effective. Kepler encourages the culture of networking through bringing qualified people to campus to talk to students. Those professionals have been great in inspiring us,” she said.
“Kepler provides a lot of support to students to inspire the learning process including students’ health and wellness,” she added.
Anyone who wants to come to Kepler should apply because it’s a life changing opportunity. Kepler is a great environment to grow personally and professionally. It’s a life time experience that you’lll never regret.
Opportune said she wants to establish a charity as a way to give back to the community.
“I believe that if you are presented with an opportunity to learn its really great to help others that are less fortunate than you. I want to help children, in particular those who come from poor backgrounds and those who are disabled so as to access opportunities,” she said.
“If you want to make a change you must give back, and leave the world a better place than you found it.” She advised.
