Kigali, 28 November 2023 – In the corridors of Kepler Kiziba campus, Pacifique Uwimbabazi stands out, not just for her determination but for her journey from a refugee to a far reaching example of hope for many in her community. As a recent 2023 graduate with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Management, focusing on Logistics and Operations, Pacifique has seamlessly transitioned into a vital role as a Refugee College Guidance Counseling Fellow at her alma mater.
Pacifique was born in the Kiziba Refugee Camp in 2001, her parents having arrived in the camp in 1996. Her decision to pursue higher education at Kepler stemmed from the institution’s reputation for imparting essential skills like technology and communication. What truly drew her was Kepler’s unique international degree and comprehensive career support.
“Kepler was more than a college to me—it was the gateway to realizing my dreams,” Pacifique reflects.
Her educational journey was marked by memorable experiences that shaped her personal and professional growth. She reminisces about the career choice modules and various professional events that sharpened her skills in communication and networking.
Yet, Pacifique’s journey was not without challenges. Balancing work and academic tasks tested her resilience. She credits the decision-making and prioritizing skills gained during her foundation program for her success in overcoming these obstacles.
The Kepler-Southern New Hampshire University degree significantly influenced Pacifique’s career choice, aligning perfectly with her passion for managing and guiding college students in their growth.
“My degree laid the groundwork for my career, fueling my lifelong passion for nurturing growth and unlocking potential in others,” she states.
At Kepler, the diverse and dynamic environment cultivated her adaptability and professional communication, skills she now finds instrumental in her counseling role.
“Every interaction each day was a lesson in connecting with diverse people from different backgrounds,” she adds.
Post-graduation, Pacifique’s career has been a journey of meaningful impact. She takes pride in her role of supporting her community, particularly in empowering young women, helping them build self-esteem and confidence. Reflecting on her professional growth, Pacifique credits her discipline and the comprehensive skill set acquired at Kepler for her success.
“A disciplined approach, combined with communication and technology skills, has been vital in opening new opportunities and pathways in my career,” she asserts.
Looking ahead, Pacifique envisions herself as an independent woman, driving entrepreneurial initiatives and empowering young women.
Her advice to current and prospective Kepler students is clear: “Be proactive, make the most of Kepler’s resources, and apply your learning in real-time. Don’t wait until graduation to start using your skills.“
Proud of your success, Pacifique. You totally deserve all this kind of success and I hope you gonna achieve more than this. She was my colleague at Kepler Kiziba Campus, I can testify that she was the best of the best students????????
